BILLIONS of pounds of textile waste is created each year. This waste ends up in landfills, oceans, lakes, and even water supplies. We must consider not only the end product itself, but the manufacturing and disposal of such product.
Sustainability is a complex process and no product/process is perfect. However, the chart below illustrates processes that are more favored. At the top is PREVENTION. If we can create a product that is more durable, then less is produced and less ends up as waste. SuperFabric® is a tough, durable material that can extend the life of garments, seats, footwear, covers, and more.
We must also look at the impact of manufacturing and not just the end product as we consider the impact on the environment. SuperFabric® uses a base fabric and then adds protective plating (guard plates) to the material. The guard plates (epoxy) and process, are very environmentally friendly as no VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) are produced, no water used, and no phthalates are used.
